(I won this shirt from the Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon organization last January in a New Year's Day Twitter contest organizers were holding. Really very cool.)
Though I was only running two to three miles, I had to stop more times than I wanted to, gulp, walk.
Walking at the end of a steep hill more than once, I imagined what the jerks would say as they would drive by, watching a person struggling to breathe just

But then I didn't care. I've had to take some steps back as I heal, but I know my training will increase and I'll be running full steam ahead on those same hills in a few weeks - and then, my shirt won't seem ironic to anyone, but most importantly to me.

Don't worry about others - you know what you have done and will do again in the future. Injuries stink!
Thanks, Bill. You're so right.
Just keep going! When I see anyone out walking, running, etc., I always think "Good for them!" At least they are outside DOING something! (and then part of me is jealous that I'm not out with them at that particular time!). :-) Heal quickly!
That's how I feel when I see people out, too ... in both regards. :) Thanks for the encouragement, Di.
I have a shirt that reads Athletes Run. I love it cause it motivates me for the same reasons you were talking about. Truth be told, I seriously doubt anyone outside driving gives a rip about my runs but me, but it helps motivate me to run.
Definitely felt motivated. Happy training, James.
I wouldn't worry about what ANYBODY says...you're the one out there keeping active. Good for you, despite your foot issues, Good For YOU!!
Thanks, Lily.
