Enough perusing on the Internet on triathlon-related sites would nearly guarantee that you've come across this quote. I believe its meaning underpins the attitude most triathletes have about life and about their training.
As I consider the fright of the Ironman race, especially in these winter days, as training volume is lower and I wonder how I'll ever have the time to build up, this quote is an affirming pick-me-up.
It reminds me to soak in this amazing world God has created and to appreciate all of the blessings in my life - even when the blessing of warm weather is months away.
Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty, well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming: "WOW! What a ride!” - Unknown

I am on a 36 week plan, I really thought that is would be loaded with alot of LDS, Zone1/2 workouts and its quite the opposite, m-f its all form, speed, and power drills and the weekend is the long stuff, so low volume is ok as long as it is quality work
So needed to hear that. Are you doing IMKY or Rev3?
This may sound cliche, but IM is 90% mental. When you believe you can do it, you will. The physical stuff just naturally falls into place. (If from up north it does pay to plan a mid to end of summer one, though)
I completely agree with you, Bob, about the mental toughness. I'll be depending on it! :) IMKY, though hot and humid, should be perfect.
My plan has been mostly low volume but with higher intensity. The duration will start kicking up soon as I'm 13 weeks out from an oly and 17 out from a HIM. I'm have a little cabin fever since I haven't been able to ride outside due to the snow and road conditions. I sooooo ned warm weather.
Good quote. A friend of mine uses that as her email signature.
Yeah, this cabin fever really does bite. Hope it warms up sooner rather than later where you are!
